California Vacation? If I am going on a vacation to the California coast this summer, how much money should I bring, and what should I pack, if I am going camping? We might travel all over the state also...
What is fun to see and do along the Northern California Coast? My girlfriend and I are planning a week long car trip around April up the California coast. We plan on leaving from the San Francisco area and heading north from there and are wondering what there is to do for three college students with a bit of money. This trip is going to be an escape/vacation for us and we are looking for things unusual and exciting. Any suggestions from NorCal locals on what to do in the towns or anything that is must see? Thanks. Oh and on a side note, I'm from San Francisco and she is from Sacramento and have done enough and seen the sights there and are looking further north.

What are some good vacation spots that aren't in California (But still in America)? I live in California, and I am trying to think of some good vacation spots. I don't want want to feel like I'm trapped in California for the summer, so I was wondering if you guys had any ideas. Only; 1. Not Hawaii (Went there last year) 2. Not many far East Coast ideas (New York and up) 3. Not Florida! Any ideas would be great, thanks! P.S. Would Cleveland be a good place to vacation?

Should we fly first class on our flight from New York to San Francisco? I am planning a big California vacation for next August, and they released airfare for the dates we are traveling. We are going from JFK to SFO, driving down the coast, and returning LAX to JFK. We would like to use airline miles and have three options: Delta Coach or First (going there is a 737 which might not have TVs, which could bore the kids) or United Economy Plus on the Premium Service planes. United has no seatback TVs, just more legroom, while Delta might be updating only First Class by adding TVs----Coach is questionable. Which of the three do you recommend? We have 2 adults and 2 (11 year old) kids traveling.
I want to take a beach vacation, but I don't know anyone who wants to go with. Should I go alone? I live in the midwest so I'd be going either to the North Carolina coast (where I've lived once before) or the California coast (where I've lived once before too). Is it bad for a female to take a trip by herself? I'm sure I'd be kind of lonely BUT...I miss the beach!
What is the best Vacation Spot in Los Angeles area ??? My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon, we will be spending a few days in Vegas and would like to take a drive over to the california coast. .We would like to stay around the Los Angeles area, the closer to the beach the better. We also love night life and dancing (salsa in particular) so some nightlife would also be ideal. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Thanks Debi
Do you think we should vacation in? Bavaria or do a California coast lighthouse tour?
Where can I get a one-way rental for a coast-to-coast roadtrip? I'll be vacationing in the States in late August. I want to hire a car (or bike) to travel from Florida to California. The large hire companies charge extra for one-way rentals. I'm looking for a hot special.
Are those oil derricks in Huntington Beach CA actually pumping new oil from out of the ground? I recently was in California on vacation and noticed all of those oil derricks at Huntington Beach. Is the Californian coast rich in oil?
What's with all of these dreams lately? an anyone help me? I have been having awful dreams lately...these are 2 of them... 1. My boyfriend (who I have been dating for 14 months in real life) are in California on vacation (which we are really going on soon). It is a beautiful day and we are driving up the coast. There is a parking area on a cliff for people to look out at the ocean and we stop there. He takes my hand as we exit the car and gushes about how beautiful it is. He looks into my eyes and say "I think it is time that we talk about something very important in our lives." In my head I am thinking "Yes! He's finally going to propose". But he doesnt. He says that it is time for us to break up. Meanwhile, we still have like 4 days of vacation together! 2. My boyfriend (same one) decides to take me to a jewlery store to go engagement ring shopping. He says in the dream that my "future fiance" should know what kind of ring I like. So I browse around the store, try lots of rings on and show him like 2 or 3 I love. He says he isnt really interested, because he ISN'T going to be my "future finace". He had no interest in that at all - he just thought that I should know what kind of rings I liked for when someone actually wants to marry me. Please help!!!! Thanks!!!
Any nice 3-4 day vacation "near" San Francisco (not "at")? Are there any good locations one can go as a couple - (Tahoe is one option for skiiers if snow stands till end-March which is when I can make it for a short vacation, for instance). Places within a 5 hour drive from SF are most preferable. I have seen almost all the coast of California south of Monterey. Thanks to all Answerers.
Should these two be rewarded equally? Should these two be rewarded equally for their hard work? Jamie: She is a young woman who works for a public relations company and she makes very good money at her job and the rewards she has is owning a condo overlooking the ocean on the coast of California, she owns a 2007 Toyota 4Runner Limited V8, she o lots of nice clothes to wear, gets to go on nice vacations, goes to plenty of rock concerts and owns lots of stereo/furniture equipment. Nick: He is a young man who works at a department store called Shopko and the only rewards he gets is working little hours and, a roof over his head at his parents's duplex and a cheap bicycle to get to and from work, plus his boss is an egotistical jerk who treats Nick like crap and is refusing to give him the hours he deserves and Nick only makes $8.15 an hour, plus Nick's boss fired an elderly woman cause she couldn't perform the duties that he wanted her to, plus Nick hates his job and his parents don't want Nick to quit his job. Both Nick and Jamie have been at their jobs for 7 years and Jamie is her own supervisor, Nick wishes that he can find another job to where the managers should treat him with the respect that he deserves and Nick absolutely hates his pig of a manager and the manager doesn't appreciate Nick's hard work and it angers me that Jamie can't share her rewards with Nick cause I think that Nick should be working for Jamie instead of his pig of a manager at his job cause Jamie would treat him alot better. Nick and Jamie are acquaintences who knew each other from high school. Sadly Nick has a learning disability and he has a bit of a short term memory but he is intelligent in many areas.

Has anyone tried Jimboy's Tacos? 15 years ago I moved from California to Ohio, and there was this fantastic place called Jimboys tacos. I went online and saw that there are tons of them all over the west coast, but not one on this half of the continent. But I was just wondering if anyone from California has eaten there recently, and if it is still the greasiest taco on the planet. It's been 15 years and I can still remember exactly what it tastes like. I am planning on taking a vacation to California next summer with the soul purpose of eating at Jimboys. Yay...
Recommended Vacation Spots for March 2008? I have a week in March 2008, (7th-16th) where I can take off and go on vacation. I live in NJ, 20 minutes outside NYC. Where would be a good place I could go to for that week that , 1) I can drive to, or take a CHEAP flight to 2) will be on the warmer side considering the time of year 3) will not be congested by Spring Break people 4) is safe I will be going alone, and I'm a young woman. I don't plan on doing much but relaxing. Maybe swimming (if I can) or doing a few other activities, but nothing intense like theme parks. I just wanna be somewhere nice, warm, with a good view lol. California and other West Coast places are not really options. And I'm not so sure about the Caribbean islands (just because I will be alone). Any recommendations?
Could someone recommend somewhere to go for vaction? Have 2 weeks of leave.. Don't know where to go. I've lived in England and Japan for 5+ years each (father in USAF), husband has already been to Australia. Went to Vegas for our honeymoon, I didn't care for it. We want to go somewhere new together. We live in Hawaii now, so don't want to go anywhere thats mainly beach attractions since we can do that here at home. Moving to Georgia next year so East coast isn't an ideal vacation zone either since we will be closer to those areas. Do you need a passport for Canada? (His expired) What to do there? Apart from theme parks is there much more to do in California? Any other states on West coast that we should definately visit? What are your favorite places for vacation? Thank you!!!
Safety traveling in Sonora, Mexico? Where can I find out? I was planning a beach vacation in Sonora along the coast of the Gulf of California. It's always been safe before but with things as they are in Mexico I'm worried. Does anyone know if this region is still safe with the current violence? Can anyone recommend a website or some source of information so that I can keep up to date on what's going on? Thanks in advance.
good vacation spots? i am gonna go on vacation during spring break, but i am having trouble deciding where to go. i am from the east coast so i was thinking california or maybe just going to florida. any other suggestions?
My husband won two tickets to anywhere in the US, we live in the NE and of course,? I want to fly as far as possible. Can anyone give me any ideas of some great vacations--we LOVE ocean and pristine beaches-Florida is a cheap flight for us and too close to use for these nonlimiting tickets--any ideas about California? when is the best time to go, road trip? land where? best beaches to visit and should think about may be cruise on that side of the us? Ideas please because I need to plan by January and I am stagnated and cannot find enough info on California as to their beaches and do we rent a car and drive up the coast? Also, when is their summer because I dislike cold weather - I live in it 10 out of 12 months where I live. Thank you to everyone that can help me with some insight......all ideas will be considered....other than giving the tickets up because they are nontransferable and could only be used on the "continent" of the US. Thanks 'I'm not from Nebraska but NE Pennsylvania--probably just as cold but a much longer flight to california--which is what I want

What happened to "Drop out and Tune In""Asking Alice" and the great American Road trip???? A friend is leaving New York City, the "Right Coast" for the "Left Coast" in two weeks, bound for San Clemente, California.I am soooooooo jealous he gets to "Drop Out" and "Tune In". 40 years ago this was the norm and expected, although with a little help, which would require one to "Go ask Alice".Ahh, sad, these days we found out that the Great American "Go ask Alice" Experiment Failed. The 2006 "Drop Out and Tune In" means you enjoy plying the road in a Lexus for a month before you end up and MBA program at Berkeley. If Grace Slick of "Jefferson Starship" sang "Go Ask Alice"....well, different program entirely...... So you get to the 'Spiritual Alice", i.e., this Alice, Birkenstock clogged, short, punky hair with chunky blond highlights concealing her grays-she will hand you a granola bar as you pass the Caterpillar, who tuned his mushroom into a vacation condo and will be seen running off, attending his 12 step Hookah anonymous meetings. They had to leave Olde England for Northern California for tax reasons. The Red Queen took advantage of an early retirement program and now runs a Lesbian Retreat House, called "The Door Knocker", an ill understood reference to some retro term from a half a century ago, which referred to the brass thing that people used to think would talk back to them as they clunked it on the front door. Poor doorknocker has been relegated to a glass memoirs cabinet, along with a dusty picture of Timothy Leary, the Caterpillars's old hookah (makes a wonderful vase for fresh cut flowers too), all managed by the Rabbit, who got his MBA in the hospitality business at Northwestern. Rabbit recently reflected: "Oh, poor us, we all lost the way with the Turtle Doves at some point and ended up in the retail chain Bed and Breakfast line, not like the old days at all". "After the red knights refused to work with non organic paint, we had to give up the rose garden for local, indigenous varieties of fauna". "Red Queen bailed out on stock options."
I have 7-12 days to go anywhere! Where should I go? Suggestions? I live in the Midwest and both my sweetheart and myself have an opportunity to travel together for anywhere between 7-12 days. Our original vacation plans fell thru. I just started my vacation today, Fri 11/02 and will not have to return to work until 11/20. I do not want to travel the entire time but a week to ten days would be ideal. We love roadtrips!!!!! It could involve a roadtrip only or a flight to somewhere and then road travels. Or simply a flight to somewhere fantastic. Some thoughts we had were to travel by plane to Vegas and then drive a rental across the desert toward California. I have been to 33 states but never the west coast. The prospect is exciting but does not dominate, as we are open to all ideas. Another idea was to drive down to Memphis and travel across the state of Tennessee ending up in the Smokies. East coast, west coast, north, south, we are ready for a serious adventure. Any ideas of a place to travel to and sights not to miss would be greatly welcome
IDEAS PLEEEEASE for traveling with a newborn and a 2 yr old...? My husband and I are trying to figure out where to take our annual vacation this year -- last year we went to Cancun with our then 1 yr old, my parents and my sis / her fiance and we had a great time. We have also traveled with our first baby all over the east coast, mexico and pre-baby loved trips to Italy, Paris, Vegas, etc. With these past trips in mind, can you please suggest a good vacation spot with kids so young and possiby with my parents along -- it's great because they can watch the kids while we enjoy a date dinner and we also have a wonderful time with my extended family... Thanks!! ps. we're looking to travel in late July or early October and would be traveling from Southern California...
Why do people that aren't from the westcoast think that they're gangster? I've lived in Los Angeles, California my whole life. However when I went to Montana with my family on a vacation I heard kids around 13 or 14 listening to The Game or some gangster music like that. I'm just curious do people from around my state have that big an impact throughout the country. I know that in places like New York, Harlem, Queens, there are also ghettoes. I'm just curious is being "gangster" like those thugs the new cool thing. Because I don't think today's youth gets that 4 year old boys lose their 19 year old fathers to gang rivalries or fights. Most of these people will leave you alone if your from their part of town or from their coast. But if you come in posing they'll shoot you. So whats the mentality of those kids? That its cool for some parent to lose a son and a grandson before either of them turn 20. Whats the logic? I can't really seem to figure it out.
I'm 36, married 13yrs, have two kids, ages 4 & 8 and my Mom is upset with me? Let me explain. About a yr ago, my Mom's best friends son announced he is getting married (he's 38). We were childhood friends, but by the time we reached high school, he had his friends, I had mine and we drifted a-part. Besides, his wedding is in Northern California (Mid April) and I live in Chicago, IL. My Mom and Step Dad are flying out there and extending their trip, after the wedding to drive down the coast and visit my sister and her family. For the past year, my inlaws have had a family vacation planned for us in Disney World, Florida (Late March). Very expensive, as were going during Easter time. So, about 2 wks ago I told my Mom that we can't swing the airfare and hotel to fly to CA for this wedding and she flew off the handle. She said, if you can afford to go to Disney World, you can afford to come to CA for this wedding. I disagree with her. I'm an Adult. I haven't seen this guy in over 12 yrs. Ok, he invites me to his wedding, so what... Your opinion? What do you think? I'm a MAN, not a Women
I'm looking for a nice resort/vacation destination to take my mother. Any good ideas? I've won two round trip plane tickets ANYWHERE in the continental US!!! I'm on the East Coast, so I would like to go far enough away to take advantage of the free tickets. Perhaps California? My mother loves Theatre and the visual arts. she is young and fun loving, but really can't walk around much due to arthritis.

Problem Solving three? Jose is planning to travel by car to vacation along the west coast through Washington, Oregon, and California. If gas costs $1.35 per gallon and Jose has $81 budgeted for gasoline, what is the maximum distance in miles he can travel if his car averages 34 miles per gallon? Show how to do it.
mother-daughter vacation spots? where is a good place to go for a summer mother-daughter trip with lots of activities like shopping, outdoor sports, and spa treatments? best if in california, or west coast.
Which roadtrip sounds best? I've been to 25 states so far, and I can't decide on what trip i'm going to take next. I'm from California. So help me decide which trip I should take. If there are any other trips you may have to suggested, go ahead and tell me. I've been to -Alaska -Hawaii -California -Oregon -Washington -Nevada -Texas -Mississippi -Tennessee -Arkansas -Missouri -Illinois -Indiana -Wisconsin -Florida -Virginia -Maryland -Delaware -New Jersey -New York -Massachusetts Okay, well I have 5 to choose from -Arizona/Utah/Colorado/New Mexico (four corners, mesa verde, grand canyon, ect.) -New England Area (sounds like a good summer vacation against the coast) -Colorado/Nebraska/South Dakota/Wyoming (Denver, Mount Rushmore, ect.) -Idaho/Montana/Wyoming (Yellowstone, ect.) -Georgia/South Carolina/North Carolina Thanks
Trying to make ends meet, how do we find our perfect place? I'm a teenager who lives with family in north Texas. (DFW area) I have lived here all my life but my mom is originally from Orange County California. She is getting fed up with the humidity and chance of tornadoes. She is also almost in the middle of a divorce. We're looking to move out of state but there are some problem areas, okay so many problem areas. + We would be renting when we first move and could probably only afford $1,000 dollars rent per month for the first 6 months or so. + She wants palm trees while I could care less. + She wants beaches and I want mountains. + I want snow, she wants 90 degree weather. + I want beautiful scenery and as long as she has the beach and palm trees she's good to go. + I want the east coast while she hates it(expect Flordia) I'm more of a small city, nature loving into photography type of person while as long as she has her little 'dream vacation' she's fine. We would also need a place with high employment rate. Not to mention if it's below like 60 degrees in the summer for a nightime low then it's out. I've seen pics of the Oregon coastline and the Ashland/Medford area and I really like it but she doesn't. Blah.
California central coast wineries? My husband and I are planning a 5 day romantic central coast vacation in end of June. We will be stopping in Solvang, pismo beach and Morro bay. We are planning to take the full day "grapeline winery picinic tour" where they will take us to 4-5 different Santa Barbara wineries as we don't want to drive. We are also planning to stop by at Lafond vineyards in San luis obispo and probably do some hiking to see waterfalls near big sur. I would appreciate any ideas or suggestions for this central coast vacation. Is biking along the Foxen trail in Santa Barbara recommended? Which wine trails are better for a day trip or should we just stick to grapeline shuttle? Any good hotels or other activities on the central coast that we should not miss? Thanks!
California Coastal Road Trip? Help me Plan????? Hey guys, I am planning my first vacation in 5yrs!! My Boyf and I are going to fly into San Francisco on Aug 22nd and fly out of San Diego on Sept 1st. We want to spend the first weekend in San Fran and then make our way down the coast hitting L.A. on route to spend the 2nd weekend in San Diego before flying home. I need advise on where to stay in San Francisco that is reasonable, safe & good for getting around, Where we should stop along the coast, where to stay overnight and what are must do's? (e.g. wineries, seaside villages, parks, bars etc?) Then once in San Diego what area will satisfy my need for the relaxing beach resort and his desire to explore the city? We want to save money on our San Fran hotel so that we can splash out a bit in San Diego for our last few days!! Please give me tips, links, places we can stay on the way.... anything that will make this trip worth the 5yr wait! Help me plan the perfect California roadtrip!! Full of fun, excitement, romance and relaxation!! Oh yeah and if anyone has done this trip and can give me the do's and dont's they would advise if they were doing it again, especially when it comes to accommodation, that would be a great plus. Or if you live in this area and know a spot that locals would recommend that would be great too! Thanks for your input guys, keep it coming.
Has The Game gone soft? I fell like The Documentary was good. It was his first album and he had a lot of time to work on it, so it was pretty good actually. He was working with Dr. Dre, so I did not expect it to fall short of any of Dre's new works. Now Doctor's Advocate was a really good album I think. So many good tracks on there. Really, the only song that I disliked was the one with Kanye West "Wouldn't Get Far." All the other tracks were bomb. Like "One Night," and "California Vacation." But after listening ot some tracks off LAX, I feel that it's just not him anymore. He's bringing people in like Nas and Lil' Wayne. Nothing against them, but it's just not WEST COAST anymore you know? The only song I actually liked was "Big Dreams," and that's not even on the album. YES I AM SAYING THAT I FEEL THAT DOCTOR'S ADVOCATE WAS A LOT BETTER THAN THE DOCUMENTARY... WHICH I THOUGHT WAS REALLY GOOD. SO YOU JUST SEE HOW IT COMPARES TO LAX.
any good vacation spots? I want to get my boyfriend a vacation somewhere nice for Christmas, but I want to book it soon because prices are just going to keep going up. But I don't know where to look. We're from New Jersey, so the west coast would be nice. But keep in mind I'm going to be 21 but he'll only be 20 still. I was thinking somewhere in California or maybe even Mexico. Whatever is realistic and afforadable. Any ideas?
What songs have that Gangsta whine sound? Im looking for songs (rap), with one of them typical west coast gangsta whine melodies, like in the song "nuthin but a G thang" by Dre & Snoop, or in the beginning of "california vacation" by the game. 10 points for the one who names most songs.
Can I pick Oranges in California this winter? How much do they pay. I wanna vacation in Sunny California for the winter and pick oranges. I can't go to Florida because it is too far away, I am on the west coast so California would be great, a 22 hour drive.
does a misdeameanor california warrant show up outta state ? i was on vacation in california 9 years ago and got caught vandalizing a payphone while intoxicated . the police didnt arrest me but gave me a desk appearance ticket in which i ended losing later that night and was on a plane home to the east coast the next day. i wasnt able to show up to court and figured i would never be in cali again anyways. i never recieved anything in the mail . i called the court clerk and they said there still is a warrant . i am a broke student in grad school and cant afford to go to california ... and cant afford a lawyer . i have been pulled over by police multiple time and had a federal background done by the F.B.I. how come it never popped up and if so how could someone outside california find it ???? nlets maybe ???
is it a bad idea to go to NYC in mid December for the first time? I live in southern california, and I've never been to the east coast. Me and some friends were thinking of going to NYC for a week in December. Is it gonna be too cold to function? would the weather ruin the experience/vacation?
