Do you need a passport to travel to Canada, Bahamas and Carribbean or does a birth certificate suffice? I am looking to take a last minute trip over Thanks Giving but I unsure of the border policies for 2007 travel outside of the U.S.?
I.D. for travel ling from Canada to the US? Ok, I am aware that this is a long shot, but here goes. I am planning on going to New York this weekend, it was a last minute weekend get away planned by my friends. We are driving from Quebec, Canada to New york. My problem is, I can not find my birth certificate, with a large family things get lost, my little sister put my important papers somewhere but thats gettig off track because I am pretty frustrated. Ok, so this is all the I.D. that I have, An expired passport, it expired in 2001 An expired Medicare card, new one is in the mail, but wont be here before friday My LEARNERS driving permit (it has my photo on it, it allows me to buy cigarettes) My social insurance card A letter head note from my work stating that I have worked there more then six months (I needed this to renew my medicare card because I lived in the states for one year in 1999) I recently flew from Quebec to B.C. and for the plane my learners permit was enough I.D. but this is from Canada to the U.S. If someone could let me know if this would be enough, or give me a number where I could call and find out if this enough it would be very much appreciated THANK YOU IN ADVANCE :)

Destination ideas for a 3-4 day vacation within US in October? My husband and I will be travelling with our 6 month old. We havent taken a vacation since last year and we had to cancel our lovely trip to Canada last minute, so desperate for a short and sweet and not too expensive vacation. We live in Nor Cal. My cousin and her daughter who is 22 months old will be visiting bover the holiday season. They are traveling economy class on aircanada from Alberta to BC and we are trying to find out what documents are needed to fly with her baby. She had her purse stolen and no longer has her birth certificate or social insurance card. The baby will be traveling on her lap. She leaves in 4 days, so this is a bit last minute. I tried contacting the airline but I could not get through, they gave me a roundabout recording saying to check their website, however their website is very unclear. Booking Flights to Bangkok !!!!? GREETINGS FROM TORONTO, I'm planning to fly to BKK on NOVEMBER 15th, returning on DECEMBER 17th and I'm wondering if anyone has any insight into the best way to "play the game" with the airlines. I've noticed that, now that I'm UNDER 30 days BEFORE the flight, the price has gone UP about 25% - from approx. $1600 return to $2000 return. I've been lead to believe that, if I wait until last minute - and I AM flexible in when I can leave and come back - that the prices will start to drop as it gets closer and closer to the date of travel. (No airline wants empty seats, right???) If anybody has any experience with this, I'd really appreciate it. I'm travelling from TORONTO (YYZ) to BANGKOK (BKK) and I'm considering either CATHAY PACIFIC (my preferred carrier) or AIR CANADA. What are your opinions on a "passport" for domestic flights in Canada? I am dumb founded, this is exactly the opposite to that which the government claims to have as their agenda (safe guarding our freedom). Instead they are becoming Orwellian in their requirements of us. Tourists, persons with visas,suspicious individuals should have to follow this each time they fly. For us nothing more than has always been expected, our plane ticket. They have made it extremely difficult for the Canadian born to travel with in their country due to the added expense of this Identification. If I thought for one minute that following this money pit of an idea would somehow prevent terrorism I would be all for it and not here asking you. To quote a former police officer "We are becoming more like the former Soviet Union". I would agree except we have never put as much into our military as they did.
