best way to save money on European vacation...? A couple of my friends and I (fellow poor college students) have saved up enough money for tickets to England and a hostel for a week this summer, and possibly going from there on another flight from London to Barcelona for a few days. What is the best way to stretch our weak American dollars (beyond packing suitcases of powerbars, which we're already considering to save money on food...) Thanks =)
What is the best Cruise Line for a 6-10 day European vacation? I want to plan a cruise in Europe. I want to visit the big cities in the countries and I want to hit the cities that will have unforgetable partying at night time. I also want to be on a ship that has lots to do, good service and looks good. Can anyone give me ideas for who would provide the best plans to meet my desires?
differences between european and american vacations? I was on vacation last summer and met an English guy about 20 yrs old. We went to the same club every night and chilled and we started talking about how long we where staying. i told him my family was there for a week and he said he was on a cruise for a week then in cancunn (where i was ) for a week and then on another cruise home- total 3 weeks. I was like amazed and asked him if he was like insanely rich and he had no idea what i met. Then 2 months ago i learn disneyworld almost bombed in france because the hotel rates were too expensive and europeans couldnt afford a hotel at those rates for 3 weeks. After realizing is European culture to take longer vacations up to 3 weeks i was shocked. My question is Do they know thats long, do they realize americans vacation like one week a year:? Do our vacations shock them?

Song From "European Vacation"? There's a song in the movie "National Lampoon's: European Vacation" when the family is in the clothing fashion store in Rome, there is a song playing with English words, and some of the lyrics are : "If it don't get a second glance, or make you feel good when you dance, then it's NO, and it's old, and the world could use good looks." I searched the lyircs online everywhere I could, and found nothing. Does anyone know the name and artist of that song? Thnx
national lampooon's european vacation? in the movie national lampoon's european vacation what is the name of the song that the ladies exercising to in the club where the son was busted with the prostitute. it sounds funky with some foreign vocals. it also sounds disco. thanks
Old TV commercial featuring european vacation? A number of years ago (maybe 6 or 7?) there was a TV ad following a young African American kid through his European vacation with his friends. There were clips of him sight seeing, riding a bike through the country side, and having a great time. He looked to be around high school grad age. I think it was one of those "priceless" commercials because I remember it saying things like, "bike ride, 10 euros", "souvenirs, 20 euros", etc., and the commerical ends with this kid looking out the window of a train/bus with a smile on his face at which point the ad says, "...finding Steve (or whatever his name was), pricless..". I hesitant to say that this was one of Mastercard's "priceless" ads because those ads are all humurous in nature whereas this one was meant to be meaningful and touching (following a kid on his first trip through europe). Does anyone remember seeing this ad or what product it was selling?
Help me figure out my European vacation plans! College student on a budget...up for the challenge? I'm trying to plan an itinerary for a three week or so European vacation. I am a 22 year old student and would like to spend less than 2500 (not counting airfare to Europe). I know that's possible, especially in Europe. I'd like to visit England, Italy, Germany, Netherlands, Belgium and Greece. Does anyone else have any other good suggestions? And which parts of these countries are not to be missed? Your input is greatly appreciated!
European vacation advice!? Who did you guys use to book your vacations? What was your experience with them? We want to hit London, Paris, and Rome. We have run into hundreds of companies who plan your whole vacation (air, tours, hotel...), and it's hard to pick one. Any help would be great. Thanks so much:-) We'll most likely leave from San Francisco.
European vacation recommendations? My friend and I, ages 25 and 35, want to go to Europe in about a year. She wants to drink a lot of beer for two weeks(she wants to do Dublin), and I want to see some historical sites, maye a couple walking tours. I'm trying to find some good packages, but we don't want to be stuck traveling with the same group of people on the same bus for days. We prefer to mostly do our own thing, just the two of us. But there's also communication issues to consider, so maybe we should be with a guide most of the time? For me, I hate wind. Rain is okay as long as it's not constant for days, snow I love but it's hard to travel in. She's more sensitive and would prefer the weather to be as mild as possible. So, on a budget of, say, $2,000 or so each, what are the best websites to use and which city or cities would fit our needs best? And what's the difference between Cork and Dublin? I'm looking for a package deal, flights and hotel, at leat a week, up to 2 weeks. I would love to hear from anyone Irish, and Europeans in general, as to specific areas that are full of things to do and not too expensive. Neighborhoods that are safe for young women, with inexpensive hotels and food. Thanks in advance! Thanks in advance!
national lampoon's European vacation? u know the part where the griswald's are in the yellow car and the guy hits 2 cars and a bicyclist? y r all 3 guys soo nice? are european people that nice? or are they being sarcastic? because i heard they're not nice.

I don't know anything about booking tours or how much it cost. All I know is that I want to visit some of the best countrys and places in Europe. Does anyone have any good suggestions on where to go, how many days, and how much is a good price to pay? Thanks P.S I have one friend whose going to be traveling with me.
Potential expense of a cross-European vacation? I just obtained my US Passport a couple of days ago and I'm absolutely ITCHING to leave the continent. I've been to both Canada and Mexico (as well as the Carribean), but never overseas. If it's feasible financially, I would love to take a month off and fly out to Paris (or maybe somewhere else a bit less romantically idealistic) and take modest means of transportation to a few/several European countries within a fairly close proximity. The obvious hindering factor, of course, being monetary. For a 3 or 4 week European escapade, realistically how much am I looking at going through if I'm budgeting airfare, food, lodging (preferably cheap hostels or something of that nature), public transportation, and such? Anyone in these forums actually done it?
Tips on good room and board on a European Vacation? I am planning a European trip that includes: Ireland (dublin), Rome, France(Paris), Netherlands (Amsterdam) and London... and a few of the surrounding areas... I will be travelling for a month and my question is are there any clean/safe hostels in any of the areas i have mentioned... or any reasonably rated hotels. And if you have any good hot spots that are in those cities let me know! Thanks

european vacation ...? Two friends, named Harry and George, go on a trip to Europe, where they have a great time. When they get back, Harry meets up with his pal Phil to tell him all about it. "One of the first places we went to was the leaning tower of Pisa. It was really neat." "Cool. Did you go up inside it?" "No, we couldn't, since George is a cripple. But we did go to visit the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris. That was really neat." "Cool. Did you go up inside it?" "No, we couldn't, since George is a cripple. But we did go to visit Big Ben in London." "Cool. Did you go up inside it?" "No, we couldn't, since George is a cripple. But we did attend mass at the Vatican." "Really? What happened?" "Well, the Pope made the sign of the cross, and George dropped his right crutch, and he dropped his left crutch." "Cool. What happened then?" "George fell on his ass. He's a cripple, you know."

How much would a European vacation cost? I'm planning to go in Autumn of 2009, after I graduate college/university. Now I want to go to Europe for two weeks. I planned to go to France for a month, but I know that is unrealistic for me since I have work and another school again, etc. Anyway I wanted to go to for 4 different countries in one to two weeks. I'm planning Paris, Berlin, Barcelona and either Rome or Zurich. Now how much would all this cost me or does anyone know any good sites for this. I don't really care for a hotel and if I have to a very cheap one. Please help! Oh and I'd be coming from Toronto, Canada. I'd be going around mid to end October. I'm not going to shop or buy anything crazy. Just good food and sights. Thank you in advance!
How to pack for a 10 days European trip? Myself and my husband are planning on a UK/European vacation this april with train travel in between the countries. Is it good to take on big rolling suitcase + one small carry on or two medium sized rolling suitcases? Any packing suggestions welcome. Thanks
How much money do I need to bring on my European Vacation? I was wondering how much money I would need for lunch and dinner everyday. I'm going to Rome, Paris, and Madrid. 11 days alltogether. Lunch and dinner for 2 people. Thank you =] Just need the amount of money I would need for food. Hotel and transportation is taken care of.
What are some good tour groups for a European vacation? I'm thinking of going to Europe with a friend. We kind of want to do everything, so we're trying to find a good cheap tour group. Or if anyone knows of any tour groups just in Ireland or Sweden, that's great too. Any links would be helpful. Thanks!
What's the cheapest way to take a European vacation? I'm assuming most answers will say "to backpack," but I'm wanting tips on how to get around, where to stay, what to do for fun, etc...I want to take a month-long trip for very, very cheap. Thanks for your ideas!
What is the best way to plan a first trip to Europe? My husband and I are planning our first European vacation. We are only going to be able to be there between 10 days and 2 weeks. I'd love to go longer, but unfortunately, we can't. So...what are your suggestions on ways to plan a first European trip and do you have any excellent itineraries?
Has anyone got advise on a European vacation? We are hitting Rome (3 days), Italy; Naples, Italy; Dubrovnik, Croatia; Venice, Italy; Venice, Italy; Messina, Sicily, Italy; Barcelona, Spain; Cannes, France; Livorno, Italy in June via Carnival cruise. Especially would like input on day excursions/points of interest that are not to be missed at the above locations. Any other advise would helpful as well. I've never been on a cruise ship before either. Yes, Amsterdam is a favorite, not this time though.
What's the best way to travel to at least 2 European countries during 2 weeks? I live in Germany and travel alone, but want to know places where I can go and get to know other joung people. The countries I want to travel to are France and Italy. I also want to get the most out of this vacation. So anybody who knows any special features about these two, which would make the trip more enjoyable, I'll appreciate the help.
Disney European Vacations? If you have taken one of those Disney Foreign tours (specific experience in Italy would be great), was it good? I want to take my mom to Italy next year, but neither of us are seasoned travelers. In fact, she's never been out of the U.S., and I have only been to London once with my husband who has family there (so we didn't feel like lost tourists). Neither of us knows a lick of Italian, and we just want to be safe an have fun. We live in Florida, so we know Disney is reliable here. But, we don't know about over seas. They don't just set you up with some random tour company, right? They are trusted Disney employees? I hope? Thanks.
What is the best European city to visit; London or Paris, and why? I have difficulty in deciding which city would be better to go on a vacation to. Everyone tells me different things! What do you think? The Eiffel tower and museums, or Big Ben and Buckingham Palace? I know that you can actually go in Buckingham Palace during September, but Versailles is open all of the time. What do you think is the most cost-effective, fun, interesting, educational, or just plain better? I would like some specific reasons, too, if you don't mind. But I'm flexible. Thanks for your opinion! :-)
What to bring to European vacation--including Paris? i have been wanting to go to Paris since 3rd grade--in 8th now. anything specific that i will want or need in Paris and Germany? and also, how much $ should i bring. I cant earn very much, but what would you suggest?
What are the best/cheapest European sites to see? Planning a vacation to Europe next year with a couple of friends. Being in our mid-20's we would like visit areas that will not only be scenic and culturally/historically unforgettable, but also offer a fun night-life. Please help with any experiences or ideas you may have!
European vacation ideas for December/January? My husband and I are planning a 18 or so day trip for his mid-tour RR. We had tossed around the idea of seeing Italy and or Greece. I'm worried this is a bad season or will cost us an arm and a leg since it's the holidays. Any suggestions would be helpful!
Anyone wanna join me on a 3 month european vacation starting and ending in amsterdam? Everything is open for suggestion. The only specific detail is that i wanna start and end in amsterdam. No definitive itinerary planned. I'm 20 years old and this is my first time going. i'm pretty much up for anything. I was considering maybe getting a cheap apartment/room in amsterdam for about a month of the trip and then backpacking through europe for the remaining 2 months. With day trips of course to surrounding areas. Everything is negotiable. This trip is an open book, i'm looking for ideas. I figure $4000/$5000 is probably a safe bet, and im even willing to find work there for a bit.

What's the best European vacation spot in January? My family and I are trying to decide where to vacation this January. Our choices (so far) are London, Edinburgh, Rome, Munich or Paris. The tickets to Munich are about $250 cheaper to Munich, but I don't know about the cost once we get there. So, I'm basically looking for a place that will have lots to do, be easy to get around, and not be super expensive once we get there. Do any of these places stand out over the others? Thanks

Can you recommend any all inclusive European vacations? ? My husband and I are interested in traveling to Europe over the next few years. We would like to go for a week at a time, so it would be several trips over the next decade or so. We would like to go on a guided tour/vacation, where the accommodations, tours, transportation, and possible interpreters are all included in the price. Basically, we want to take the guess work out of traveling to foreign lands where we don't speak the language. (ie Italy, France, Spain, Greece, etc) What groups/companies do you recommend?? The only ones I know of are "Vacations by Disney." They seem overpriced (and I am sure they are, knowing that corporation!). Can you recommend another accredited company that has better prices, and are trustworthy? Please, DO NOT reply with your name and tell me to call you directly. If you have an accredited company with a website, I will check your site out only. If you reply with a "spam answer" I'll merely give you a low rating.
