Remembering last year's Google romance prank -- funny or mean? And should Google have a REAL singles network?

The Gmail paper and internet-via-toilet pranks that Big G did this year were funny and creative, unlike last year's prank, the dating service, which I thought was mean-spirited, sadistic and tasteless.
As an unpartnered woman who would like to find her Heart's True Hero, I went to look up something on Google and saw GOOGLE ROMANCE. My heart beating like a speeding bullet from excitement, I took the "tour," went to sign up -- only to be told that it was only a prank. Well, I was not amused. I was rather miffed and so disappointed, I felt like crying.
I, for one, think Google should have a singles feature for real -- sort of a search tool where you key in what you want in a partner, combined with a networking area (a la MySpace but strictly for romantic-minded singles)
Anyone else think that the Google Romance prank was a cruel, sadistic stunt on Big G.'s part? And does anyone else think that Google should have a real working matchmaking feature? Discuss.
