my mother and i are intending to go on one of these prizes and are dubious as to hidden costs etc.. please give us any advice or experiences

1. Please don't let them know if you have a credit card.We were a little naive but as soon as we told them we didn't have a credit card they didn't want to know us anymore. Just DON'T SIGN ANYTHING!!

2. No such thing as a free holiday!We fell for one of these a few years ago(naive then) and after paying an administration fee and waiting nearly a year,we got a date that was'nt convenient,we said we could'nt go on those dates and when we could go and am still waiting!!!!All in all the costs(hidden) and the fact that we would have been "time share captives" I would stay well away from it!
