Can I use my oyster card for group travel?

If I am travelling with for example a group of friends visiting this country and want to show them round London. Can I load up sufficient credit on my Oyster and use it to pay for everyone's fare? If not, why not?

1. I dont think so, oyster cards are for individual use. What are you going to do lets say for example going through the gates at the tube station and hand it out to one person and then to another and another, it wont work, and the staff will notice that!!!

2. Unfortunately the answer is no. Once you have touched in, say on the bus, if you try to touch again the machine will not accept it.
Your best bet is for them to buy one day passes.

3. No as the card allows London Transport to know how many people are in the network in the event of an accident.
