Is there such thing as a travel group?

I love to travel, but don't have many friends that will just pick up and take a trip with me. What is a good way to find more people that have the same interest? Are there groups that promote travel as a hobby? I may just be searching wrong...Help! :)

I'm 45yo, singe and with no close friends. I also LOVE to travel.

There are often local travel groups, or online groups - I am a member of one of the travel groups on MySpace & I think people do occassionally meet on there & travel together.

If you like hiking or outdoor activities - kayaking, sailing, etc. There are many different companies and many do singles trips, where a group of 12-16 people (singles and couples) travel together.

Last Christmas, I went to do gentle hiking, cycling & kayaking in New Zealand with a group called Active New Zealand http://www.activenewzealand.com/ and they were great.

I also travel alone sometimes. Coming back from New Zealand I had a 3-day stopover in Tahiti - lots of fun.

You can also try cruises. Some companies do a (very) small number of singles cruises, where you share a cabin with someone else or, if you have the money, you just buy a cabin all for youself - but if you do that on a singles cruise - lots of singles :-)

2. No you are not searching wrong. There are Yahoo travel groups. Lots. All from different interest. Travel groups for special parts of the globe, travel groups for families, travel groups for males, females. There are travel forums which probably serve your purpose even better, as I think you also want to find people to travel with? At the forums there are always people looking for people to travel with them. Try searching on the thorn tree of lonely planet.
