Do Europeans always need a VISA to travel to the USA on VACATION?

Someone told me it is really HARD for them to visit simply for vacation. They gotta pay thousands for a visa, etc. Is this true?
Wow so it reallly isnt that hard to come over here even if you arent on that list. Someone told me they had to wait years and pay thousands of dollars if they were from Albania. What a liar.

1. Citizens of the following countries do no require a visa to visit the United States for the purpose of tourism providing their stay does not exceed 90 days and they meet all of the other requirements to travel under the visa waiver program (vwp).

Andorra, Australia, Austria, Belgium Brunei, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

If your country is not listed above or you do not meet the other requirements or if you plan to stay in the United States for more than 90 days then you will require a visitors (B-2) visa prior to departing your country.

To apply for a visa you need to visit the website for the American Embassy or Consulate in your country. There you will find all of the application forms which you need to fill out and how to schedule an interview for your visa. The cost is U.S. $100 for a B-2 visa and is paid at the time you schedule the interview.
