TRAVEL IDEAS WANTED: Solo female looking for outdoor travel adventure ideas?
Hi there!
Hoping to draw on the experience of all you travellers out there!! I'm located in Canada but am open to travel in many parts of the world.
I'm looking for a fun, flexible, & memorable adventure to do by myself this year. In the past I've hiked through Ireland, kayaked in BC. To give you an idea of what I'm looking for, it would meet the following criteria:
- 7-10 days
- outdoor adventure
- safe (i.e. no threat of being eaten alive by mountain lions because I'm travelling alone, or raped because I'm a woman travelling alone)
- physical (hiking, cycling etc..)
- inexpensive (open to camping, hostels, & inexpensive hotels etc)
- potential for cultural exposure
- not too much prep/research required
- travel months either July, Sept-December this year
Look forward to hearing from you!

1. If I were you, I would find out a few things about Peru...
Lots of culture, delicious food, kind people and lots of places for hiking...
You can find an inn/hostel for US$ 8/night and it's a safe country...
2. Hello,
I spent 2 weeks last year hitchiking around Ireland and a week and a half this year driving around Ireland. I rented a car when I got into the airport without having prior set up.
I purchased the flight for 431 dollars which is really amazing. Fly Aer Lingus if you go. www.aerlingus.com The earlier you book the more you save with European airlines. Unlike the states.
I stayed in hostels both times except recently, i was in dublin in saint patricks day without prior booking to a hotel. go to www.hostelworld.com for hostels in and around Ireland.
The people in Ireland are as beautiful as the country itself. I would suggest going during the summer months because.
1. there is more greenery
2. there are more festivals
3. it is warmer
There is a twon near the cliffs of Moher called Doolin (the clifs of Moher are the highest cliffs in Europe with beautiful scenery to see. Stay in doolin lots of fun people and music festivals, at least for a day or two
3. My son went to Sweden last year. I'm pretty sure it is safe and inexpensive. He said it was beautiful.
4. I've gone to Monterrey, Mexico which is about 2 1/2 hours from the USA border. They have several beautiful mountains that you can climb safe from the wildlife and lots of beautiful churches you can visit & learn culture.
I've also gone to Puebla & Mexico City, Mexico which is about 12 hour drive from the USA border. They have some awesome pyramids that you can climb and tunnels you can go through. There are small volcano holes in the ground that you can go into & tour.
I would suggest going with a friend though. It would be lonely to go alone with nobody to talk to & enjoy the trip with. If you ever decide to go there, you would need to get a visa & maybe update shots as well. Hope you have a wonderful trip to where ever you go! Good luck & God bless.
