Cheapest airfare to Rio, Brazil??? HELP!!?

I am looking to travel from Houston, Texas to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil for Christmas break. I have been looking around for flights and they are so expensive!! Does anyone have any good advice on where to book the flight? (i.e. discount travel sight) Or a cheap airline? Anything would help! Thanks in advance!

1. Try flying to Panama City on COPA Airlines (a partner airline of Continental Airlines) and Panama's national airline. Copa has a direct flight from Panama City to Rio de Janiero. You also can try other carriers such as AeroMexico (they fly direct from Mexico City) and TAM Brazilian Airlines (flies directly from Miami). United Airlines also flies direct from Washington-Dulles so you might want to check them out as well.
