Last minute travel to Philly for the weekend, cheap safe hotel to stay at?

Not looking for luxury, just a place to sleep at night, can be on outskirts of city, safety is important though. Any ideas?

1. I stayed at the Hampton Inn near the King of Prussia mall. I felt pretty safe, was fairly inexpensive, lots of places to get a bite to eat in the area. Its on the outskirts of Philly.

2. I lived in Philly and the safest hotel would be one that's not close to the ghettos, because they can get very dangerous.. In Philly it seems like the closer you are to everything the more dangerous things can get. Most of the time the closer you get to the Lincon Financial Stadium, the more dangerous things can get. It's a little rare to get mugged or anything, but no matter what, it's always safer to walk in a group...And the father away from the stadium you get the Cheaper the hotels tend to get... Have a Good time!!

3. Society Hill hotel, Hub Motel in Northeast, Roosevelt inn in Northeast.

4. Do not listen to the other posters. You will be staying in the middle of NOWHERE!

Check out http://www.GoPhila.com/ They list tons of hotels in downtown Philadelphia and around the region. It's a safe area to stay in for anyone.

I've had luck with the Club Quarters and the Holiday Inn Express.

5. Look in South Phila. Hotels will be cheaper there, but you will still be close to the action.

6. I recommend the Holiday Inn down on I believe 12th n Walnut or 13th n Walnut
