Cheap Airfare needed to attend funeral?

I just found out this afternoon that one of my good friends was killed in a car accident last night. The funeral will be sometime this week in Florida, and I'm looking for cheap airfare to get down there. (I'm in Tennessee.)

I know the airlines have bereavement rates for family members. Is there any airline that has discounted rates even if you are not family?

Does anyone have any advice on finding a cheap rate? I've checked most of the travel websites with no luck. =(

1. If they won't give you bereavement fare, then try priceline.com. You do have to flexible about the times you fly, but you can get there for cheap

2. the airlines really only give you 50 dollars off, and you gotta fight for it! just go on line, like travelocity.com or something!!

3. Don't spend money to go to a friends funeral--he died, let him come to you. He won't know if you're there anyway. Just askk someone to sign your name in the guest book and later, when he's checking out the book to see who was there he'll just think, Oh, I didn't see him here.....I must have missed him.
