I am getting married in Kauai, Hi in July. We will be gone for 2 weeks and my son will miss one week of school. He is in a year round school while everyone else is on summer vacation. His dad refuses to let him go because he will miss school. I spoke to the school and they will give him make-up work and really didn't have a problem with it. It's my wedding, my dad has passed, so my son is walking me down the isle. This is very important to me. What should/could I do? Court papers say we are allowed 2 weeks a year of vacation with our child as long as we give a months notice to the other parent. HELP!

1. get it in writing that the dad says no. is his grades questionable? if not, then get it in writing from the teachers that he will be sent with assignments . you could request the court to have it authorized that he go with you. being that is it for your wedding, him saying no only makes it look as if he's being vengeful. this is the week you are requesting and since it is a family affair, yes it is important that he goes with you. keep in mind the court could say no, but this definitely is worth pushing the envelope for. you saved this week for your summer visitation for a reason!
