Requesting Days Off?

I just started a month ago, and was recently asked to go on a family vacation to california for a few days, I would need to take 5 days off from work, and i really want to go, but is it acceptable that i ask for 5 days in a row off? I work at a hotel doing housekeeping.

1. hey your an adult you know whats important, if you can support yourself after, your fired when you get back from your vacation, by all means go. Ahh 20 somethinns

2. It will be up to your employer whether or not they give you the time off, but you should ask as far in advance as possible to give them time to make sure your regular shift is covered. If they do give you the time off, expect it to be without pay. And be careful - if you ask for the time off and they don't give it to you, then you call in sick, they will most likely find a reason to terminate you. Good luck!

3. chances are you wil not be paid for this time off due to the fact you probably haven't earned any paid time off. but you have every right to request the time off, but rememberit's just that, a request. depending on business need your manager can deny it as she/he sees fit

4. I wouldn't request it. When you're first starting a new job your employer wants to see how responsible you are. If you would have known sooner it would have been better to ask when you interviewed that way they would expect you to have time off so soon.

By it being so recent with you asking it might put bad taste in their mouth.

When I started my job in the summer after graduating college, I sacrificed not attending a lot of events and gatherings with family and friends. It showed how serious I was about my job.
