Will I be able to travel to Tennessee from California with just a paper drivers license?

I just got my California drivers license and I am travelling to Tennessee to see my family for vacation. I didnt know it took 2-4 weeks to receieve your actual license. I have a paper license without my picture on it and the dmv says its just as good as your regular license. I dont have any other form of photo id and i leave this monday- im afraid without a photo id they wont let me travel. Ive called the airline several different times and have been given all different answers. Does anyone know if I can travel with a valid paper license without a picture on it?

1. call the airlines to find out what you can do...you may also have to produce a 2nd form of ID, such as a birth certificate

2. I heard that they will require a form of an ID with a picture on it.
