Looking for affordable college vacation?

My boyfriend and I want to go somewhere during Labor Day weekend and the week following. I'm thinking a beach vaca in the Atlantic would be risky (hurricane season), but I'm clueless about where else to go...

We're both pretty cheap (read: broke students) and have no idea what cities would be nice to visit around this time of year. It'll be my 21st that weekend so we want to go some place with some nightlife, but at the same time, were both very interested in travel, the outdoors, and 'adventure' travel.

All in all, we're looking for budget friendly, party-goer, outdoorsy kinda place... if such a place exists. So, any suggestions?

2. If you don't mind waiting until last minute (2 weeks before), you can use a site like http://us.lastminute.com/ to book a trip. They have good deals on both beach and city vacations, including both cheap and expensive hotels. The benefit is that you can check the weather forecast before booking, so you don't have to worry about hurricane insurance.

You could also try to combine a vacation to San Francisco and Napa Valley. Since it's your 21st birthday, what better way to celebrate than to try wine samples at some of the most famous wineries in the country? You can spend part of the time in SF enjoying the city and its nightlife, and part in the country touring Napa/Sonoma. We also went over to Bodega Bay to ride horses on the beach, and hotels were a bit cheaper over there. Great seafood too!
