New Family NEEDING a vacation badly!! There is a budget tho..?
Me and my hubby are new parents, our lil one is 8 months old and she will be turning 1 in May. Since we were pregnant and going to have a baby last year, we didn't take a vacation. But, now that we are able to, but still have a budget, what would be something fun for me and my family to do or where would be a fun place to travel? We live in Florida and planning to travel anytime between May and September. But only wanting to stay around the Florida, Georgia area due to not wanting to fly with a baby. We love adventures, museums, beaches, basically anything fun! So anyone have any good advice? Keep in mind she will be 1 around the time we travel, so I know that Disney World wouldn't be a good place yet, because she wouldn't remember a really exciting trip like that...

1. You could go to Myrtle Beach
2. Go to Destin Florida...We went there last year....and Loved it.
3. How about Amelia island? It is somewhere up near Jacksonville / St Augustine. I have heard it is a great family place, great beaches for looking for shells, etc.
4. You didn't mention what your budget is; so I'll assume that by staying close and not needing airfare, you'll have a decent amount for fun.
As you wrote, the baby is too young to enjoy anything. You will want her in all your photos, though, to show her when she gets old enough to understand it all.
My wife and I have been traveling the USA for almost 40 years. We do all kinds of fun stuff. "Been there, done that". And cost is always a major consideration. We live in Connecticut. Our first car trip to Florida was in 1970 with our 8-month old daughter.
You want to avoid making your trip in August or Sept. Try to stick to late May, early June, or late Sept early Oct. You don't want to fight the summer crowds whose kids are out of school all at the same time.
A one-city destination would be Miami\Miami Beach. There's all kinds of fun places; Parrot Jungle, Seaquarium, and a place we discovered on our last trip in Sept, the Fairchild Tropical Garden (a bit pricey, but an wonderful place).
Take in a baseball game. The Florida Marlins are just north of Miami.
There's the Miami Metrozoo. The art deco motels on Ocean Ave in Miami Beach. And the now yuppie restaurants on the Lincoln Road mall. Take the Miami Duck Tour.
Whatever you do, take lots of photos. Don't be afraid to be a tourist. Just go and be prepared for fun.
