Alaska cruise 2007?

My parents let me in on my Christmas present a little bit early this year, and told me that they are sending the whole family on a cruise to Alaska next summer of 2007. I'm not sure which cruise line or anything yet, but was wondering if any of you have ever been, and if so, what cities you would recommend I shouldn't miss, what excursions I shouldn't miss, etc. I already plan on hiking a glacier, doing the sled dog thing, but other than that, i'm pretty clueless on what Alaska has to offer. I'm not really into the nature scene, so any help would be appreciated. Thanks so much!

1. Alaska is a beautiful place with all the same things to offer that you'd find everywhere else plus the added benefit of being in the most amazing scenic places ever. My sister goes on the cruise every two years and loves it.

2. didnt know they let you get off the boat . alaska is very nice lots to do inthe summer and it stays daytime in most spots like 18 hour daylight. as for hikeing have a good guide . dont go out alone .

3. Well it depends on the cruise pkg. to know where you will be going exactly, so I can't really advise you on what not to miss out on. I'd say check out things at every stop, AK is quite interesting. Don't forget your camera!!! :)

4. I've been up the coast by ferry boat. all the scenery is magnificent. I never made it to Glacier Bay, but I hear that's worth the extra detour.

5. you dont have much choice where you go, the cruise has it stops along the way up the coast depending if it is going thru the inside passage or outside passage ways. the ship will have all the extras typed up as to what to do aand what to see in each port
