1. the answer to ur question depends upon where in india u will be...when i went i was in northern india soo i didn't travel down south....when i went i was only 13 i went with my entire family because there was like family reunion type thing goin on in india and i got to meet some my cousins and aunts and uncles for the first time...soo went to see all these places with my family...i went to Agra where i saw the Taj Mahal...not too far from the Taj i went to see the Red Fort..i went to Amritsar which is in Punjab, to see the Golden Temple....my mom went 2 years ago and went to Udaipur and Jaipur to see the palaces...some other great places i've heard of is Goa and Mumbai...theres alot to do in india...btw beware of beggars and pick-pocketers...there are a lot of those in india...heres a website i found thot u might want to look in to that...http://www.indiatouristspots.com/.... HAVE A GREAT TRIP!!!
2. most tourists go for the golden triangle area - which is delhi, agra and jaipur. there's no luxury sightseeing in the south - well unless you like the beach, then there's Goa. but that's nothing like the beaches in the Maldives. Nothing fantastic.
there also one state near those 3 that's called Udaipur. they call it venice of asia coz it had 4 lakes. i didn't find it anything like venice at all. haha.
3. Hi there,
I have found http://www.holidayiq.com/ to be very useful and informative for planning my holidays.
You might want to read thru the blogs and forums for holiday destinations in India. I really enjoy the thousands of images of destinations uploaded by other travellers.... gives me a feel for the places I would want to visit :)
Have a great trip!!

4. FOR YOUR FAMILY LUXURIOUS ATTRACTIONS IN INDIA ARE GOA BEACHES,GLOLDEN TRAINGLE IN DELHI,AGRA AND MANY MORE PLACES LIKE MUMBAI
5. It depends what you mean by the term luxury and im also assuming you will know about obvious attractions like the Taj - so i will suggest some places ive been to with my family - Mount Abu - its really pretty there with lush trees and charming temples - not to mention amazing marble carvings. Then there is the elephanta islands in mumbai - they are handy to go to because its so central and only involves a short boat trip - with adorable baby monkeys on the island - children love that sort of thing. And there is a nice golf course in mumbai on a big hill with lovely views and a jacuzzi ect.
