1. I dont know when the best time of the year to go on an Alaskian tour would be, but I do know of a good website. Check the link below, click on the cruise tab and they have alot of cruise packages including Alaskian. If you are going to already be in Seattle in Sept, that may be a good time to go, seeing as you will start your trip from there anyway.
Have fun on your trip.
2. Cruises to Alaska go from late May to September. That is it. Go to the web site Princess.com to see some really great cruises with them. Another good cruise site is "Vacations to go". They have some really good last minute deals(last minute is like 90 days or less). MY favorite cruise was with princess and was a cruise/tour where we spent 4 days touring the land and staying in Princesses own lodges. We flew to Anchorage and did the 4 days tours, then took a train to the coast and got on the ship. It was great, so much so, that we are thinking of doing it again. You should try to book your cruise asap as Alaska fills up pretty early. Good luck.
3. The tourism season in Alaska is May to September. The best time to go is very subjective:
1. For maximum daylight hours, go in May, June, or July. In Fairbanks, there are 24 hours of daylight from late May to late June.
2. For the warmest days, travel in July or August.
3. For the best chance at seeing the northern lights (aurora borealis), sail in September. Even so, you may not see them - the northern lights are primarily a winter phenomenon when the nights are darkest and longest.
4. To avoid mosquitoes, try May (but be prepared anyway).
5. For the best cruise prices, you can't beat May and September.
6. To have a good chance at seeing bears at fairly close range, go during the salmon spawning season
7. Fishing is good throughout the tourist season
8. For the smallest crowds, May and September are best.
Hope that helps!
4. I would think the best time to go on a cruise up here would be when the ice has melted as it makes the ship sail much more smoothly when it is on water and not ice!
