My daughter wants to know, do cats travel in groups in the wild, and if so, what is a group of cats called?
Public Comments
1. well, domestic don't really travel in groups. But sometimes three or four cats stay together for a while called, a clowder of cats. Other than that, lions are the only wild cat called a pride.
2. a den
3. The only cat species that lives in groups is the Lion...and they are called a "pride".
All other cats, including feral domesticated cats, pretty much lead solitary lives. Other than males and females breeding - encounters usually lead to fights.
4. Lions are pretty much the only wild cats who live together - called a PRIDE of lions.. they dont really "travel" together though...
or are you talking about "housecats"?
they dont really stick together except for mom with her kittens before they are weaned.. males will kill the kittens..
5. Our barn cats travel in groups of two or three. Usually mothers and kittens. Lion groups are called prides and they are the only cats that travel in groups in the wild. Tigers, cougars, and leopards are all solitary.
6. A pride, is what they call lions and other big cats
7. i dont care bc i absolutly hate cats. There so ugly and annoying i would buy a pomeranian there awesome
8. Lions travel in groups and are known as a "Pride" so I assume that a group of cats travelling together would be called a "Pride of Cats". Most of the other cats such as Tigers, Leopards, Cheetahs, etc usually hunt alone. I think that this is the same with domestic cats.
9. Well, it depends.
With the exception of lions, no large cat lives in groups. Tigers, leopards, jaguars, etc. all live alone. A group of lions is called a pride.
There have been reports of stray or feral domestic cats forming 'colonies' in cities.
