Is it better to travel to Israel with a tour group?
Maybe better to go with a few friends?

1. IT is safer to travel in groups and as long as you guys get along why not? but you should discuss dinner and hotel costs and if you are going to split it or not.
2. I have only gone to Israel with tour groups - although the last time was a group of friend and I signed up together for the same tour group. I would suggest if its your first time in Israel (and you don't have friends or family who are Israelis) I would suggest going with a tour group.
Good Luck!!!
3. It depends, Israel is not different than any other country for that manner. Would you go to Italy, Spain, Ireland or GB with a group? if so then also go to Israel with a group. Personally I feel safer in Israel than I did in Barcelona or Marseille. If you don't know the history & geography of the place then always better to take a guid, but in a group you do what ever the group does and you don't have any option to change the schedule.
4. If you can go with a friend or two that is the way to do it. I went with a friend and we were able to rent a car and travel throught out Israel at our own pace and choose how long to stay in anyone place.
However, if your going alone, then a group tour might be the best idea. There are many tours groups including Christian tours or simple travel tours for history buffs.
It depends on what you want to do once you arrive. Personally, I prefered being free of tour group time lines which are often pretty tight.
It is just more fun to go and be able to pick and choose ones destination. Having said that, I have heard good things about tour groups in Israel.
5. I never went with a tour group, for the simple reason that I did not like the idea of having a rigid timetable, and also I didn't want to risk being put in a group I didn't like or get on with.
I've been to Israel with friends, and that worked well. But when I lived out there during my gap year before going to University, I went on kibbutz, and so ended up with a group of people from all over the world: French, Russians, South Africans, Brits, Americans. It was very interesting though I have to say, there were a few total fruitloops in the group!
I think you should be honest with yourself about your own temperament. If you usually function well in groups, then going with a tour group can be a wonderful experience, and many seem to have a terrific time.
Whether you are with friends, or a tour group, you'll still have to compromise on occasions and there are bound to be moments of tension.
Hope this helps a little bit! I had a wonderful time in Israel and I'm sure whichever option you choose, you too will have a fab experience!
6. it depends! do you have friends here or family?
if not then you'll have more fun with your friends!
7. If it is your first time going to Israel, then you should go with a tour group; this way you will not miss out on any of the fabulouds sites.
8. If you don't fly with a group, definitely hire Israeli tour guides on arrival in Israel. There are none better! You can tailer tours to your own wishes.
