What do you recommend for traveling to Italy, solo or group?
My husband and I are thinking about going to Italy next. Should we just go and do our own think or should we go with a traveling group that takes people to the touristy spots? If you think a group is best, do you know of any companies that do these trips?

1. It depends on what style of travel you like. I like to fly by the seat of my pants, and have my own itinerary. I love the adventure of trying to figure things out on my own.
If you like having an air conditioned bus, and someone else to do all the dirty work, go for the tour group.
I can't be tied down that way. Not in Europe. Maybe if I ever get to Asia, I'll do it that way.
2. Go on your own - then you do exactly what you want and are not stuck with people you may not like very much! I travelled around Italy by myself and it was really easy. There are trains everywhere and the Italian people are really helpful, just try speak a little bit of italian and they will bend over backwards for you. You will save a lot of money doing it yourself too, plus it will be good fun and you and your hubby will have lots of laughs (maybe some arguments too).
I recommend Rome, Venice, Florence, Siena and Cinque Terra (Riomaggiore is a cheap village to stay in there). If you have time, go down to Calabria as it is so beautiful there. Happy travelling!
3. IT DEPENDS ON WHETHER YOU WANT TO HAVE A ROMANTIC GETAWAY OR IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE FUN WITH YOU FAMILY AND FRIENDS , I HAVE BEEN TO ITALY AND IT'S BEAUTIFUL AND YOU COULD GO BOTH WAYS THE CITY IS BUILT FOR ANY TYPE OF VACATION
4. Hi, I'm Italian..my English is not very good but I'll try to answer you anyway...well I would choose a travelling group, because Italy is so full of wonderful places that travelling on your own you could miss the best ones...with a group is all organised and you will able to relax and admire the most beautiful country in the world...moreover italian is really difficult to speak and pronounce for English people and Italians are not good at speaking (here's an example!!!) other languages so you could find really difficult to communicate...
Enjoy Italy!! Arrivederci!!!
