Is it easy to travel overland for single Irish male from Bankok to SIngapore?
I am travelling this summer, I looked at a trip but the trip costs £415 for 15 days. I thought that this was too much, I travelled Europe for 4 weeks for less than £1000. So I was thinking of doing it on my own?

1. Yes, there is a train service that goes from Bangkok to Singapore via Kuala Lumpur and vice versa.
It is the Oriental Express, I think.
2. Hi Chris
with 1000GBP, you can do Bangkok to Singapore quite comfortably for a month.
one way to beat having to book hostels/hotels in SE Asia is to take the night bus from one destination to the next. I do that quite often myself and like it. But that's really my personal preference and whoever wants to do that must be able to sleep on a bus at night.
There are lots and lots of clean (and cheap) accommodation in Thailand and Malaysia if you don't need the frills of a 4* hotel.
Singapore would be more expensive vis a vis Thailand and Malaysia. Unfortunately, we're experiencing a hotel crunch here. Prices have shot up. But there are still good hostels with beds from SGD20 onwards (about 7GBP).
Eating out here is also laughably cheap if you compare it to the UK. Eat like a king in Bangkok, try the street food in Penang and feast at Singapore's hawkers' centre. You'll be amazed by SE Asian food.
Hope this helps.
PS: I hope you are not thinking of doing Bangkok-Singapore in just 15 days?
